The Season Of Advent
What's It All About?

Advent is the four-week season leading up to the celebration of Christmas. It's a wonderful time of prayer and preparation. It brings calm, and keeps us focused on Christ, in the midst of what can often be a hectic season. Check out this short little video.

Joseph: Carpenter Of Steel
Video Study

The man driving the Christmas story in this Bible study is none other than Joseph, the foster-father of Jesus. Join us for this four-part video study as host Rev. Gregory Seltz, past Lutheran Hour Speaker, sheds light on one of the New Testament's unsung heroes in Joseph: Carpenter of Steel. Adding historical perspective to this study is scholar and best-selling author Dr. Paul L. Maier.

The Real St. NickLeader, Legend Or Lie?

This single-session Bible study, hosted by Rev. Dr. Ken Klaus Speaker (past Speaker of The Lutheran Hour), Christ, is the most visible figure during the holidays—St. Nicholas or Santa Claus—as we know him in Western culture. Dating back to the third century, St. Nick is attributed with the doing of many benevolent and charitable acts of kindness and generosity.

Watch The Holiday Classic
Red Boots For Christmas

Enjoy the animated classic, "Red Boots For Christmas," from Lutheran Hour Ministries. It tells the story of grumpy Hans the shoemaker who is visited by an angel who promises him a special gift for Christmas. You can watch it here.

What Is Christmas?
Free Downloadable Booklet

Christmas isn’t always the bright and cheery affair found in songs or movies. For families struggling with unemployment, or working through hurt feelings, strained relationships—even the oncoming death of a loved one—Christmas can be a trying time. In this booklet the reader is reminded that God’s gift of love in Jesus can heal every wound and repair every broken relationship.

Life This Side of Heaven

"We walk by faith not by sight”

(2 Corinthians 5:7).

Jesus gives us life with Him now and eternal life in heaven. Real life. But where is it?

You and I experience sin, shame and suffering in this world every day. Where is this life that Jesus talks about? It's easy to get bogged down by the weight of all that we experience on this side of heaven.

It's into the midst of all of this that Jesus has come and has rescued us. When we look for evidence of God's love He directs our focus to His Son, to Jesus, on the cross.

In love, Jesus took our sin and shame upon Himself. By His suffering and death on the cross you have the forgiveness of all of your sins. And Jesus is with us now and brings that comfort and mercy to us every day in His Word, in Holy Baptism, and in the Lord's Supper.

These daily audio devotions will take us into God's Word and to the cross so that we may rejoice – not just when the day comes when we are standing before His throne, but even now. In Lamentations 3:21-24 we hear, "Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, 'The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him.'” Here's Good News to hear every day of our life this side of heaven.
