Life This Side of Heaven

"We walk by faith not by sight”

(2 Corinthians 5:7)

Jesus gives us life with Him now and eternal life in heaven. Real life. But where is it?

You and I experience sin, shame and suffering in this world every day. Where is this life that Jesus talks about? It's easy to get bogged down by the weight of all that we experience on this side of heaven.

It's into the midst of all of this that Jesus has come and has rescued us. When we look for evidence of God's love He directs our focus to His Son, to Jesus, on the cross.

In love, Jesus took our sin and shame upon Himself. By His suffering and death on the cross you have the forgiveness of all of your sins. And Jesus is with us now and brings that comfort and mercy to us every day in His Word, in Holy Baptism, and in the Lord's Supper.

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday these audio devotions will take us into God's Word and to the cross so that we may rejoice – not just when the day comes when we are standing before His throne, but even now. In Lamentations 3:21-24 we hear, "Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, 'The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him.'” Here's Good News to hear every day of our life on this side of heaven.
